Ropes and Ladders Board

Dec 3rd, 2017: It is finally done! I spend so much time with this table. Today I played with two of my kids and we had a great time. Please see this website to see who is the artist who drew the board (http://www.kenrolston.com/?p=379)

May 9th, 2017: Today I started burning this table. It is based on a very cute version of the original board. I will have to work hard on the shading! Colors perhaps?

"The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Hokusai (1830)

This is a new project - an end table with the famous painting on top of it.

I think i will try using shades and not colors for this one.

3/13: Done! I decided to draw Hokusai's self portrait. Next step is applying lacquer!!

3/9: Done! Now I will make the boats slightly darker and start thinking about the detail in the lower shelf (a small version of the mountain?)

3/8: I just finished the dark stripes and they are beautiful thanks to joy's advice!
Next step is adding a slightly lighter tone to the other stripes.

3/3: finished the shades and moving forward with the dark shades within the waves. If successful won't need to color the picture...

2/28: I just started the burning, and I am currently adding the shades around the waves' "fingers".

Sheshbesh (Backgamon) Board

Finished project.
After taking the picture I added seaweeds on one leg (see below) and lacquer.
It's at home waiting for a purpose... or players.
